How to purchase Maskcara Beauty in Canada!

March 21, 2019

Are you as excited as I am to see Maskcara Beauty finally coming back to Canada? This is big news people!! And I’m thrilled to see how much hype there is already!

So, my Canadian friends, starting March 25th 2019, you will be able to become a customer of Maskcara Beauty (or an artist! deets about that here!) and doing that is super simple! I suggest getting color matched ahead of time so that as soon as it opens, you’re able to place an order.

Why do you want to place an order as soon as it launches? Because EVERY SINGLE CANADIAN ORDER PLACED ON THE 25TH GETS A FREE DESERT SUNSET LIP+CHEEK COLOR! I mean, I like free stuff soooo I think thats pretty cool!

How do you place an order? After I get you color matched (or if you already know what you want), just click this link to get to the website, add what you want to your cart and checkout! Your order will ship directly to you!

A couple questions you might have…

How much is shipping? Orders under $99, shipping is C$3.95. Orders over $99 ship free!

What if I need to exchange or return? Simple! You have 30 days to return and 60 to exchange. Just ask me for help doing so!

Can a Canadian customer order from an American artist? Yes! Cross border artist relationships are totally cool! Just make sure the Canadian flag is displayed on the shopping page and all price adjustments will be automatically applied.

Do you know someone in Canada that you think might be interested in the artist program or trying out the makeup??? If so, let me know! I will send you a thank you gift for any referrals that turn in to customers or team members!

Well, I’m SUPER stoked and know lots of you are too. Here is the website to start shopping and getting your orders ready! March 25th will be here before we know it! I’m so excited to make friends in a new country!

My creative outlet

March 13, 2019

My Mom: “Cute! Did Rosie do your makeup?

My brother: “Whats wrong with your face?”

Soooo it went over really well when I showed up to Sunday dinner lookin like this (hand covering face emoji)

Heres the thing, I like playing with makeup. I’m not good at writing or speaking, I can’t draw or paint, I’m crap at arranging flowers and designing a website. But makeup is my creative outlet (not always great at this either but I’m passionate about it!) It’s not always going to be super everyday wearable makeup cuz that can get boring to me.

I went in to the bathroom after these comments, cried a little bit and then wiped it off. Its hard putting yourself out there. I didn’t want to have to defend myself and convince anyone that it was my art. And right after I did that, I was mad. I have stood up for myself because I liked it!

Lesson learned. And just know that if you ever see me out in public, theres a good chance I’ll have some crazy makeup on!

I hope you have something that helps you express yourself and pushes you to keep improving on your skills in that area, regardless of what others think about it! Tell me what your creative outlet is in the comments!

Black Cherry blush (darker cream) / Periwinkle mascara (used on lashes and texture) / Pink eyeshadow

As always, all complexion products used are from Maskcara Beauty! Email me at hello@tauritucker.com for a custom color match!

Daytime Skincare Routine

March 11, 2019

I didn’t always have a different skincare routine for nighttime and daytime. It just kind of happened as I figured out what wears well under my makeup. Skincare has become a huge passion for me and I’ll admit that my routine changes often because I’m always trying new things, these products are ones that are tried and true (by me). Even if I stray from them, I know I’ll always be able to come back to them and they will do me well.

I always start by rinsing my face with just water and a cloth (my fave is linked below). Thats right, I don’t wash my face in the morning. I figure since I washed it just the night before and didn’t do anything (and since I wash my pillowcases regularly), I don’t want to cleanse just for the sake of cleansing. Some natural oils need to stick around in order to keep my skin healthy.

Next I tone. I use this stuff both morning and night, it is the BOMB. Toning is necessary to maintain a healthy skin pH (right around 5-5.5) so you don’t disrupt the acid mantle. I also love the witch hazel which is a gentle astringent to clean out and close pores and the aloe vera which is soothing to any irritations. The real kicker is the lactic acid which gently exfoliates without stripping.

Up next is a vitamin C serum. I want my skin to be bright and glowy and vitamin C is a way to achieve that. This particular product does a pretty darn good job and I’m super jazzed at the results I’ve seen…but it is really pricey so I might try out cheaper alternatives when it comes time to refill. If budget isn’t an issue for you, I highly recommend! I let this absorb for 10ish minutes before moving on.

Moisturizer is next. This is my second refill of this lightweight moisturizer so I obviously love it. It’s super cost effective and I get it at Target so its convenient. It smells amaze (like oranges), absorbs quickly and my makeup wears SO well on top of it without making my face appear greasy. Best part is that it has CoQ10 and Argan oil, both fo which have anti-aging properties…which I want šŸ™‚

(Insert SPF here! I don’t have one I love but Ill be trying a bunch out this summer and I’ll keep you posted on my feels!)

Eye cream is next! I feel like I’ve tried them all in the last several months. Obviously thats not true but it really has been hard for me to find one that doesn’t make my makeup crease, keeps my eyes hydrated and doesn’t irritate them. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I get severe eczema on my eyelids when a product irritates them, which is why I’ve tried so many. I know immediately if it will be a good product for me or not. So when this one didn’t make me break out within the first week, I knew it was a potential winner. And as more time has passed, I’ve realized that my makeup has hardly creased at all since I started using it (and lets be real, all concealer creases at least a little!), my undereyes always look hydrated and healthy and my eyelids have never been more even, something I thought was a lost cause. Another bonus, I can use it both morning and night and its a 360 degree cream! Can ya tell I’m loving it?

Last is lip care. I love this lip mask, I use it as a lip balm. I put it under any other lip products I use, it keeps my lips looking and feeling hydrated and full. It smells and tastes delish too! I’ve used this for over a year and I just barely had to replace it a few weeks ago, so the $14-$20 price tag is wellll worth it.

Alright sisters! There ya have it! MY perfect daytime skincare routine. I really feel like my face has never been more healthy, I’ve never felt more confident in just my bare skin and my makeup has never looked better. I attribute that to my skincare routines, both day and night. Take care of your skin and it will take care of you!

Cornered

March 8, 2019

A few girlfriends and I were chatting about our favorite colors to use on our eyes. There were the usual suspects – pinks, browns, golds/coppers, peaches…you know, the safe ones. And of course, I agree! I love using them as well! Then we started talking about the ones we’ve never used or would never used. I’ve tried quite a few but on my list, I had purple and blue. At this point, Maskcara’s blue shadows had just recently been released and were on their way to me so they were put on the back burner until arrival so purple was high on my radar! (Update: blue shadows have arrived and I have yet to try them but I will soon!)

So purple became my project. I went back and forth between creating a more wearable look and one that was more bold…I think you can see which won šŸ˜‰ BUT girl, anything can be an everyday look if you just rock it! I wore this to bunco (yes, I’m 90) and the gals loved it!

Best part is that it took only two eyeshadow colors and one brush (haleloo for double ended brushes!)! I started by spraying the pencil tip of my brush with setting spray and then dipping it in to the purple shade to make it more vibrant and precise, then slowly and patiently drew the liner shape. Be mindful if you have deep-set or hooded eyes like me, draw your graphic liner on your brow bone (above your crease!) so you can still see it when you open your eyes! Then I flipped the brush over to the flat end, used one side to fill in the purple outer corner of lid and then the other side to add in the glitter. That’s it!

What color do you think you can’t use on your eyes? I want to prove you wrong šŸ™‚

Watercolor

March 8, 2019

One skill I wish I had (ok lets be honest…there are SO many!) is watercolor. It’s one of those things that looks like it could be simple enough to figure out if you had the right tools. And watercolor artists make it look so easy! But I’ve busted out my kids watercolor palettes many a time (perhaps not the right tools I referenced above haha) and trust, my watercolor art is nothing to write home about. It couldn’t be farther from it even!

Art in general, the kind where you draw on paper, is likely nothing I will ever excel at and thats ok. I will leave it up to those that possess that talent. I have enormous respect for anyone that can express themselves that way. Through makeup though, I’ve learned that art and creativity can be expressed in many many ways! And while I may not be able to actually watercolor, I can imitate it on my face!

I used several different cream cheek+lip colors and a flat brush, just like you would a paintbrush and just randomly placed the colors all over my eyes, intentionally trying to make my two eyes different from each other. I never was one for matchy-matchy šŸ™‚

And while I love the way it turned out, I definitely played it safe with the colors. I want to push myself so I’ll be recreating with different shades!

So tell me…what colors should I try next?!

Inspired

March 6, 2019

This eye look isn’t crazy creative or anything groundbreaking but I think there is something to be said for a simple look done well. Am I tooting my own horn? Heck yes I am because girl, LOOK AT THAT BLEND AND SHAPE! Haha! I’m pretty dang proud. You don’t need a lot of colors or anything other than a few basic neutrals to create a stunning eye look.

This was inspired by another look I saw on instagram and couldn’t get enough of. Totally different colors and textures but it was simple in shape and an hour later, this was born. Anyone can do it with the right tools and a bit of patience.

Start by washing the entire lid with a creamy ivory color. Insert a medium toned transition shade in to the crease and start to create the wing shape to your preferences. Tip: do things a bit higher when you have hooded and/or deep-set eyes! Add in the darkest shade to the outermost corner of the shape, sweep in towards inner corners on both top and bottom lids and blend blend blend! Use your finger or a bullet brush to add a bright shimmer to the inner corner. This technique can be used for any color palette!

Yellow

February 20, 2019

Missing this skin right now! If you haven’t been following along over on instagram the last few days, I got a vampire facial (basically, microneedling plus my plasma) on last Friday! Three days later, my skin is peeling and tight and itchy and super dry and nothing like what I’m used to. While this is typical and totally aĀ #firstworldproblem, it’s messing with my confidence and I’m anxious to have my ā€œcanvasā€ back so I can get back to creating. Keep an eye on my instagram as I keep you guys updated with my experience and results!

In the mean time, here is a look I created a few weeks ago gearing up for the Super Bowl. Can ya guess which team I had hoped would win? 🤣
Using ā€œBlondieā€ eyeshadow (the yellow), isn’t she cute??
