Before creating this Mothers day eyeshadow look, I didn’t have too much of an idea what I wanted to do. Only, what colors I wanted to use. Maskcara Beauty released their Mother’s Day bundles a week or so ago and I’ve felt so excited to create from them! The Glowing Shadows eyeshadow bundle is soooo good! This combo of colors came together so beautifully and I’m now I’m the chief counselor at Camp Everyone-a-needs-this!
GLOWING SHADOWS BUNDLE
This bundle comes with 4 eyeshadow colors at 2.5 grams each, which is HUGE! Much bigger than the other high quality eyeshadow singles on the market. Super buttery, super pigmented and long lasting. The colors are Cupcake (matte creamy vanilla), Lullaby (matte pretty mauve, Filly (matte chocolate brown) and As You Wish (shimmery shifty butter yellow-magenta). The bundle also included a square magnetic compact, which will hold each of the shadows perfectly. And the Blend and Tap double sided brush! This is one of our newest brushes and it has quickly risen to the top for me as far as eyeshadow brushes go. So good for blending and getting in to that crease while buffing out at the same time. I love the rounded end for putting a shimmer in to my inner corner. And the more flat end is my fave for putting a wash all over my lid.
Another thing I love about this bundle and this particular combination of colors is how versatile they all are. In the past I’ve used each one of them on their own and in different combinations with each other. I’ve used Cupcake, Lullaby and Filly several times a week since they’ve been released because they are my actual staples. You probably already know that if you’ve ever asked me for eyeshadow recommendations! As You Wish is a new discovery for me, as I hadn’t used it since it was released…not for anything but an arm swatch anyway. But it’s actually insane, in the prettiest way! It looks very unassuming in the tin, kind of like a creamsicle color. You can’t even tell its a shimmer! But once you apply, it transforms, ranging from a gorgeous butter yellow shade, to a nude, to a softer pink and then magenta, at its darkest. It’s a mind-trip! And I AM HERE FOR IT!
MOTHERS DAY EYESHADOW LOOK
As soon as the kind comments started rolling in about this look over on instagram, I knew I wanted to make a post out of it. This has by far been my most popular look ever! And when you guys start getting your orders for this bundle, I want you to be able to recreate it! So I’m gonna tell ya exactly what I did!
HOW I DID IT
First thing I did was prime my lid using an eyeshadow primer and I used Cupcake eyeshadow to set it and neutralize my lid. (I’ve been using this primer lately and I like it!) I used the wider end of the Blend and Tap brush to do this. I start nearly every look this way!
Then I put Lullaby in the outer part of my crease and out part of my lower lash line, blending and defusing inward. For this, I used the rounded end of the Blend and Tap brush. The outer corner should be the darkest and most saturated! Blend blend blend that baby so there are no harsh lines!
Next, I used Filly and the Hotline brush to create a wing and liner on both lids. I sprayed the sharp end of the Hotline brush with Stay spray. That adds some staying power but it also makes a powder more pigmented (tip: try it with a shimmer for some serious glitz!). When creating a wing, be sure to leave your eye open so you can create based on what it will look like when your eye is open! I added a bit of this on the outer corner of the lower lash line as well, to tie the lids together.
Last, I used my finger to tap As You Wish in to the inner corner of my eye and on to the mobile lid. I kept adding more until I was happy with the pigment (using your finger helps with color payoff!). Add your fave mascara. My fave mascaras are this for more natural lashes or this for a little extra drama.
THE HUSBANDS REACTION
I knew when my husband got home from work and told me “I love the makeup Babe! You just might get lucky tonight!” that it was a winner! I felt really pretty 🙂 And that’s what every momma wants for Mothers Day! And you guys have been SO kind and responsive to this look and I can’t think you enough for making me feel so good. I might as well quit now because I don’t know if it can be topped! Just kidding!!! Not going anywhere… I’ll just be rocking this every day for the rest of forever.
Of course what brings it all together is the foundation. An eye look can be pretty but it will be swallowed up and go unnoticed if the foundation isn’t solid! *insert architecture joke here* I like my makeup to look like skin and Maskcara Beauty is the first makeup I’ve ever used that delivers in every way I expect and more. You can read all about the many reasons I love it HERE. And guess what…I can color match you to your customized colors and teach you all about it!
Hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
